Who wil I be looking after?

There are a variety of arrangements that can be made for children with Foster Carers. These are called placements and are:-

  • Emergency – that can occur at any time during the day or night
  • Short Term – from overnight stays to several months
  • Long Term – several months to years
  • Respite – this type of placement is aimed at giving the full time Carer or birth family a break
  • Special Needs & Disability

Children can be aged 0 – 18 of any ethnicity or gender. We are always looking for families who can take sibling groups and teenagers.  In particular teenagers who have had very difficult backgrounds but are really just children looking for love and reassurance.

Many existing Foster Carers have a wealth of experience and are quite capable of managing a difficult child. We would not expect a new Foster Carer to undertake the same challenge. Carers are given as much information about the child prior to placement and are consulted on whether the child will match with the family unit.
