QE High will rock you: Sponsoring young stars of the stage

This week we were privileged to be invited to watch the talented teenagers at Queen Elizabeth High School as they took on their school production of Ben Elton’s, We Will Rock You. We are proud to have supported QE High by sponsoring this production and enabling children in our local community to follow their dreams and achieve their goals.

Being involved in performing arts is a fantastic way for children to express themselves, build confidence, create strong relationships and build trust as they work together with their fellow cast. It is important to us at Calon Cymru to support activities such as these that help children and young people to grow, to feel a part of something and most importantly to enjoy doing the things they love.

For those of you not familiar with this musical We Will Rock You is a musical based on the music of the rock band Queen. The show follows the story of Galileo Figaro and Scaramouche as they attempt to escape from the world of corporate clones and bring back rock music to a world with no creativity and where everyone is the same. With the help of the Bohemians, they rise up against the Killer Queen and her Globalsoft Corporation and search for ‘Rock’s Holy Grail’.  

Our Storytelling and Events Executive, Lynsey, was lucky enough to return to her old school and attend the Wednesday evening performance.

As a big musical fan, I have watched and taken part in many productions over the years and can say that this production was incredibly well done. I look forward to seeing the cast taking centre stage in productions for years to come.’
