Fostering with pride, an interview with foster carer Terry Rice

2 (2) (1)

Foster carer Terry started his fostering career over 18 years ago and is still as passionate and committed as ever. He has offered a variety of fostering options over that time and now Terry and his partner Dafydd are long term carers to siblings.

When asked about his experience fostering in a same sex couple and whether this had ever raised any concerns Terry said:

There was always that concern, of some people believing there should be a female/mother figure in the Childs life, fortunately there were no concerns once approved.

We always speak about having the ability to provide a loving home, showing empathy, support and stability. This comes naturally based on who we are and not our sexual orientation.

We caught up with Terry to discuss his experience as a foster carer and to get his opinion on what you can expect as a Calon Cymru Foster Carer.

Terry's advice to anyone thinking about fostering:

If you’re thinking about fostering, then you’re already on the right path! There’s no commitment to making that call and having a chat with someone from Calon. Go for it!!
